Counseling Services at UP

During the summer sessions, in-person counseling services are closed starting May 7 and will resume on August 19th. Students interested in counseling during the summer are eligible for online counseling services through BetterMynd Virtual Counseling. For mental health emergencies please click the link above for community emergency mental health resources or call Pilot's Helpline at 503.943.9134, option 3.

Confidential mental health evaluations and support are available free of charge to all students enrolled full-time at the University of Portland, regardless of insurance status.

Brief individual counseling may be appropriate based on an initial evaluation. Due to our model, assistance with transitioning to an off campus mental health provider may also be provided.

All counseling services are offered in a hybrid model, using a combination of teletherapy (phone and/or Zoom) and in-person therapy. Teletherapy services cannot be offered to students who are not physically in the state of Oregon during the time of service.

Students must complete an confidentiality & consent to treatment form prior to their first counseling appointment. This can be found in your secure patient portal under "Medical Clearances".

Confidentiality Statement

The Counseling staff value our ability to provide students with a safe and confidential place to seek help. Therefore, we will not disclose a student's information (including appointment history and counseling records) to parents, friends, coaching staff, or faculty unless we have signed release from the student.
