The School of Education is an educational resource for the region. Together with Matt Chapman, an alumnus and CEO of Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA), we formed the Multnomah County Partnership for Education Research. This unique partnership provides high quality district-driven research to support the needs of six Multnomah County school districts. The initiative leverages the talent and resources of multiple education agencies and is a first for the University and the region. Our partnership allows us to answer real questions about program effectiveness, to access and analyze school data, and provides the basis for data-driven decision-making. It also allows our doctoral students to gain technical expertise, to be mentored in a real-world setting, and to position themselves as leaders of our K-12 schools upon graduation. With NWEA assistance, we have added new faculty and doctoral fellowships to support the partnership, another first for the institution.”
