Kristine Harrington

Assistant Professor, School of Nursing

Kristine Harrington has practiced nursing since 2008 and has had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles, from community health nursing with older adults to oncology and hospice. Her clinical passion is palliative care nursing and she currently practices part-time as a palliative care nurse practitioner at the Franz Cancer Center within Providence Medical Center. Kristine is an alumna of UP, where she earned her B.S.N. and master's in clinical nurse leadership. She continued her education at Duke University School of Nursing, earning a post-master's certificate in the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program and her doctor of nursing practice degree. She first began clinical teaching in 2014 in the accelerated B.S.N. program at Duke, where she worked with first-semester students. Kristine fell in love with the art and science of nursing education and quickly realized that teaching allowed her to bring all of her interests and skills together to support the next generation of nurses. She was honored to be nominated by her students for Duke's Excellence in Clinical Teaching award in 2015. She joined the adjunct faculty at UP in fall 2018 and is thrilled to be joining the team full-time. When she is not at work, she can be found spending time with her family, going to dance class, cooking, or writing.
