After forty-one years of nursing practice in women’s health in acute care settings, Kim Vermilya is thrilled to help shape the next generations of nurses. Most recently, serving as an adjunct instructor at UP, Kim worked with nursing students in clinical settings and the Simulated Health Center. The simulation setting is a rich environment for an observational, experiential, and most of all courageous mindset as students gain skills and confidence in decision making. Kim’s practice is to support students as they become comfortable with the uncomfortable while honoring diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her prior nursing experience includes working in women’s services, in labor and delivery, and in acute care. She has also served as an education coordinator, electronic health record clinical expert, and ambulatory instructional designer. In Kim’s spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
