Katie Eckman

Katie Eckman graduated with an R.N. degree from North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park, Minn. in 2013 and went on to pursue her master of science in nursing from Walden University, graduating in February of 2016. Katie began her nursing career in Minneapolis, working in an in-patient psychiatric ward, followed by work in a medical-surgical float pool which led her to working in critical care. In 2021, Katie relocated to the Portland area and has been working at Legacy Emanuel in the Burn Unit. Katie’s passion for teaching started in her anatomy and physiology course after being inspired by her own instructor, and after receiving her M.S.N., Katie began teaching clinicals for St. Olaf University in Minnesota. This opportunity led to Katie teaching both clinical and theory courses for Normandale Community College from 2017-2020. Before joining the University of Portland full-time, Katie served as an adjunct instructor since fall 2022. When Katie is not working, she enjoys exploring all the scenery Oregon has to offer as well as traveling internationally and caring for her extensive plant collection.
