Col. Joseph (Joe) Augustine

Professor of Air and Space Studies and Commander, Air Force ROTC

Joe Augusting

Having attended Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego and a graduate of Oregon City High School, Colonel Joe Augustine is back in the Pacific Northwest as the Commander of the Air Force ROTC Detachment 695 at the University of Portland. Prior to his arrival on the Bluff, he served in numerous positions within the United States Air Force as a helicopter test pilot. He was based in several states across the U.S., including Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Virginia, as well as overseas in the United Kingdom and Jordan. Joe has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the US Air Force Academy and was trained as a test pilot at the Empire Test Pilots’ School. In his youth, he was a regular competitor in Oregon Junior Cyclocross circuit and mountain bike events at Skibowl. These days, you may see a much slower version of him commuting to and from work. On the weekends, he spends time with his family and two needy, but affectionate dogs.
