Jun Yang Tan

Jun Yang Tan received his Ph.D. in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born and raised in Singapore, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Singapore Management University. During his undergraduate career, he spent a semester studying abroad at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned his master’s degrees in accounting and taxation from the University of Colorado in Denver, where he credits his professors for inspiring his intellectual curiosity in empirical accounting research. Jun Yang's research focuses on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting by publicly traded companies and regulatory scrutiny initiated by the SEC. He has presented his working papers at the American Accounting Association (AAA) Annual Meeting and the AAA Auditing Section Midyear Meeting. In his free time, he enjoys reading literary fiction, watching HBO original series, and taking long walks. Jun Yang was drawn to UP by the opportunity to collaborate with undergraduate students on research projects. He looks forward to sharing the findings of such collaborations at the annual Fall Poster Session organized by the Office of Undergraduate Scholarly Research and potentially co-authoring peer-reviewed journal articles with his student collaborators.
