What happens when I call to make a counseling appointment?

1. Reception will ask you if you have seen a counselor at UP before and confirm your name, date of birth, and contact phone number.
2. If this is your first time making a counseling appointment at UP, we will schedule you for a consultation appointment.
3. A consultation appointment is a first time meeting or phone call with a counselor. This is an opportunity to discuss your immediate concerns and determine which services would be most helpful to you.
4. If you are returning to the Counseling Center, depending on how long it's been since your last visit, we will either schedule you for a consultation or a session with your counselor.
5. Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive an email confirmation of your appointment, as well as an automated reminder email the night before your appointment.
