Katie A. Danielson is an assistant professor in the School of Education. Prior to coming to the University of Portland, she was a post-doctoral fellow at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Her research and work focus on early childhood language and literacy, ambitious literacy instruction, teacher education, and the integration of justice into practice. She is particularly interested in understanding the connections between teacher educator pedagogy and subsequent candidate enactment with culturally and linguistically diverse children in early childhood and elementary contexts. Among other journals, her work has appeared in the American Educational Research Journal, Journal of Teacher Education, and Teaching and Teacher Education. Danielson received her PhD from the University of Washington, her EdM from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and her BA from the University of Puget Sound. She began her career in education as a teacher in San Francisco, CA, and Denver, CO.
