Mitch Priestley is an adjunct instructor of economics at the University of Portland's Pamplin School of Business. He earned his first bachelor’s degree in leadership and ministry at Multnomah University and his second bachelor’s degree in economics at Portland State University. He currently is in the Master of Science in Economics Program at Portland State University, a program that includes a Graduate Certificate in Econometrics and Data Analysis, culminating in June 2023. Mitch’s previous college teaching posts have included positions at Marylhurst University, Multnomah University, and George Fox University. He has taught computer science, mathematics, and economics, including econometrics.
His research interests include pedagogical methods for teaching collegiate economics, as well as areas related to behavioral economics. His work has been published by Oxford University Press and appears in a 2022 volume of Agricultural and Resource Economics Review.
He teaches principles of micro and macroeconomics in the undergraduate programs.
Outside of the university, Mitch has been active in the business community and led an award-winning business as its CEO for 28 years. Still involved in industry education, Mitch trains executives and business owners in financial management and negotiation.
