What is institutional research?

The Office of Institutional Research (IR) serves the university by empowering stakeholders to make data-informed decisions.  UP's IR office does this through:

  1. Identifying data and information needs
  2. Collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data and information
  3. Supporting and leading strategic planning, accreditation, and assessment initiatives
  4. Serving as stewards of data and information
  5. Educating information producers, users, and consumers.
The Association for Institutional Research offers further details on the different roles of IR offices.
