Dear Members of the University of Portland Community,

This Thanksgiving takes on a very special meaning for me, my wife Bridget and our two children.

This is our first Thanksgiving in Oregon, and my first Thanksgiving as President of the University of Portland.

When our family gathers for our Thanksgiving meal, our hearts will be filled with gratitude for the members of our wonderful community on The Bluff.

We will be grateful for our students who inspire us daily with their brilliance, creativity, and hope. We will be grateful for our staff and faculty who are so deeply dedicated to teaching and learning, faith and formation, and service and leadership. We will be grateful for our Holy Cross priests and brothers who teach, serve, and minister on The Bluff with tremendous devotion. And we will be grateful for our alumni, Regents, and friends who so wonderfully support our mission.

It has truly been a season of transition for us. This further underscores how deeply grateful we are for all of the people who make up our extraordinary community on The Bluff. Please know of our unending thanks for the ways in which you advance UP's sacred Holy Cross mission, and for welcoming us so warmly to our new home.

From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving. May God bless you and keep you well, and may God bless the University of Portland.

Sincerely,

Robert D. Kelly, PhD
President, University of Portland
