I found this internship via LinkedIn, and applied because I am interested in pursuing a career in Human Resources. I also really wanted to explore the different areas of HR. As a Human Resources Intern, I learned about labor law and employee relations, conducted a mock harassment investigation, processed documentation for termed employees and new hires, and filed confidential paperwork such as FFCRA Sick Leave forms. My favorite moments were conducting the mock investigation and coordinating exit interviews for my fellow interns. These were great experiences that helped me learn more about employee relations. This internship experience solidified my interest in HR, and I’m now certain that this is what I want to do for a career.
My advice to current students seeking an internship: apply and network! An internship is not only an important learning opportunity, but essential for gaining good work experience.
