What are you most excited about for your Next Port?

I’m excited to start my graduate school journey at the University of Washington and pursue a Master’s in Public Health concentrating on health systems and policy. I’m eager to learn more on the subject of public health especially as it is very relevant now during the COVID 19 pandemic. Portland became my second home and although I have to move and adjust to a different environment again, I’m looking forward to all the new experiences and adventures this next chapter of my life has to offer.

What is your favorite memory from UP?

Joining the Filipino American Student Association (FASA sa UP) and dancing for the Pilipino Cultural Nights. My fellow FASA members became my second family and I got to share and learn more about my Filipino heritage and culture with them. FASA was a big part of my college life, and so was living off campus with my roommates. I got to meet some amazing people and made some great memories. I’m definitely going to miss all the bonding moments, late-night-spontaneous food runs, and the community we share here at UP.

Was there a faculty or staff member, or department that specially helped you land your Next Port?

I would like express my utmost gratitude and appreciation to Elizabeth Lee, Michael Johnson from the UP Office of Institutional Research, my professors in the psychology department, and especially to Dr. Sarina Saturn. Liz and Mike have been very supportive and my internship with them was an invaluable experience. Dr. Saturn has been a huge influence and very helpful as I navigated my college career. I feel very lucky and blessed to have crossed paths with such wise and outstanding individuals who have made such an impact on me.
