Are you interested in small classes with rigorous coursework and exceptional intellectual stimulation? A strong cohort of students who are interested in learning and hanging out together? An opportunity to meet faculty from across campus and to attend cultural events in Portland? A focus on becoming a public intellectual who can lead the way in changing the world? These are the experiences the University of Portland offers to its most gifted students through the Honors Program. Limited to 20-30 students each year, the program includes honors "core" courses, focused honors work in each student's major, along with special emphasis on study abroad, research, service opportunities, and more. The program includes students from all academic disciplines. Sound like the challenge and opportunity you're looking for? We would love to read your application!
All students accepted to the University have the option of applying to the Honors Program. Our applicants typically have an unweighted GPA of 3.8 or above and/or an SAT score of 1360 although we welcome applications that showcase academic success and potential in other ways. The application can be accessed here or requested from the Honors Program Office after August 1st.
Please note: Due to the nature of our curriculum, only incoming first-year students are eligible to be considered for the Honors Program at UP. We cannot accommodate transfer students at this time.
The Office of Undergraduate Scholarly Engagement is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
We are located in Buckley Center 114.
