The Common Data Set (CDS) initiative is a collaborative effort among data providers in the higher education community such as the IR office and data publishers such as the College Board, Peterson’s, and the U.S. News & World Report. The goal is to improve data quality and accuracy, as well as reduce the reporting burden on data providers. The CDS provides standards and data definitions that have been vetted widely within the higher education community. Whenever possible the IR office provides data that adheres to the CDS reporting standards. The CDS is often requested by external resource agencies.
