The UP Writing Center

The Writing Center is a highly effective resource for University of Portland students who wish to fine-tune their writing skills. Our staff of trained, knowledgeable Writing Assistants act as guides rather than proofreaders and tutor students on assignments and overall writing ability. Writing Assistants are peers, so they are familiar with the content and courses specific to UP. Our Writing Assistants can offer support in any discipline at any stage of the writing process. Our goal is not just to inspire better papers, but to preserve the voice of students and create better writers.

We offer face-to-face, virtual, and weekly dedicated appointments under our Dedicated Writing Assistant Program. If you're looking to make a last-minute appointment day-of, you can contact writing@up.edu to inquire if anyone is available to meet with you (no guarantees!).

The Writing Center welcomes partnerships with instructors and courses. Please contact Writing Center Director Dr. Weiger at weiger@up.edu to inquire.

Please fill out this survey after your sessions!
