Auditions are run through YAP Tracker. You do not need to be a subscriber to YAP Tracker in order to submit materials. You will need to upload a resume, headshot and a video recording of you performing a short monologue of your choosing from any of Gilbert & Sullivan’s operettas as well as two arias from the opera and/or operetta repertoire. At least one aria must be in English. It is fine if both are. The application fee is $30.00, payable on the YAP Tracker website.
There is no age limit on this program and we strive for diversity in casting in all its forms. For example, we are open to mezzo or counter-tenor voices who wish to play Buttercup and will be open to casting those same voices as Dick Dead-Eye, should the person we want happens to sing in a register not traditionally associated with male characters. The same goes with ethnicity. We aim to produce classic operetta that looks like all of us.
Resident artists will be provided housing in apartment style, air-conditioned dorms on the UP campus as well as one meal a day from Bon Appétit, our on-campus caterer who specializes in regional, seasonal, and artisan-produced products.
Should you have any questions email operaonthebluff@up.edu or call 503.943.7228 between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
