Orientation Assistant Coordinator
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting in the planning of various aspects of Fall Orientation at the University of Portland
- Communicate regularly with OA's throughout summer to ensure deadlines are being met and information is being communicated.
- Supervise the Orientation Assistants and is responsible for ensuring that these OA’s perform their duties in a welcoming and professional manner
- Meet regularly with other Orientation Coordinators
- Coordinate all aspects of Fall OA training
- Co-supervise and assist with Orientation Assistant needs
- Be an official representative of the University of Portland in all orientation activities
- Reports to the Program Coordinator for Student Clubs and Organizations
- Author a final analytical report
General Qualifications and Requirements
- Full-time undergraduate student
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to work individually during the summer
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to multitask and trouble shoot in high stress situations
- Strong knowledge of UP campus and community
- Written final evaluation of orientation responsibilities
Time Commitment and Required Availability
- Required: Available for weekly check-ins, orientation team meetings, and post-orientation debrief
- Required: Attend the one spring training session, typically held in mid to late April (unless you have extenuating circumstances or a previously scheduled class)
- Required: Return to campus prior to Orientation to actively participate in all OA training sessions
- Required: Attend every planned Orientation event/activity unless excused in advance by your supervisor
