Orientation Commuter Student Coordinator
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting in the planning of various aspects of Fall Orientation at the University of Portland
- Be a role model for new students, and interact with them in various ways
- Post to personal social media on behalf of the University and therefore all personal, viewable social media content should be appropriate for all audiences
- Attend and actively participate in Orientation Assistant training sessions in Spring and Fall
- Coordinate programming for new commuter students during Fall Orientation, including but not limited to Commuter social, luncheon and dinner
- Help Coordinate and participate in aspects of Fall OA training
- Report to the Program Coordinator for Student Clubs and Organizations
- Meet regularly with other Orientation Coordinators
- Be an official representative of the University of Portland in all Orientation activities
General Qualifications and Requirements
- Required: Full-time undergraduate student who is/was a first-year commuter student
- Required: Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Required: Ability to motivate a group of peers
- Required: Strong organizational skills
Time Commitments and Required Availability
- Required: Available for weekly check-ins, orientation team meetings, and post-orientation debrief
- Required: Attend the one spring training session if you are a first-time OA, typically held in mid to late April (unless you have extenuating circumstances or a previously scheduled class)
- Required: Return to campus prior to Orientation and actively participate in all OA training sessions
- Required: Attend every planned Orientation event/activity unless excused in advance by your supervisor
