Listen to a special welcome from University President Dr. Robert Kelly, followed by a small mixer led by student leaders. This first social event for new students and their families is designed to help everyone meet and interact with each other.

12 pm - 1 pm. Complimentary Lunch. Pilot House. UP.

Bookstore will also be open for browsing.

Join Parent & Family Engagement’s Bryn Rose as she offers a deep dive into what to expect on your own Pilot journey for the next four years. You’ll get an overview of the resources available to help you support your student and help them thrive, from Orientation and Pilot Welcomes to Family Weekend, monthly communications, and so much more.

What happens if my student runs out of meal points? What if they have issues with their roommate? Whatever questions you have about your student’s new life on campus, Res Life has the answers. Staff will share details about living in community in our residence halls, understanding meal plans, student leadership opportunities, and a whole lot more.

Fr. Peter and Tshombé Brown will engage students in an exploration of the diversity of our campus, explore different identities, and introduce the idea of bringing your full self to your college experience.

6:30 pm. Open Gym & Recreational Activities. Beauchamp Recreation and Wellness Center. U.

A fun opportunity to try out our climbing wall, play basketball or volleyball, or attend a yoga or spin class.

Form teams to work together and collaboratively solve puzzles throughout campus.

  • Pamplin School of Business: Unlocking Your Network Gold. Franz 120.
    • In the exhilarating race towards a meaningful college experience and career journey, you’ll kickstart your professional development within the Pamplin School of Business by envisioning what you want to learn, achieve, and experience in life.  You’ll create a dream board to map out global challenges you’re curious about– ranging from sustainable healthcare to disruptive technology.  Then tie these grand ideas together to discover potential business career paths that merge curiosity with purpose.  Whether its fighting climate change, developing innovative healthcare products, optimizing supply chains, or leading the charge with sports business analytics, you can be in position to win a gold medal in the race for a transformed world. 
    • As we explore the Gold Medal Opportunities, you will:
      • Develop your Life Bucket List:  In an interactive setting, you'll kickstart your Life Bucket List, as a compilation of the things you want to do, goals you want to achieve, places you want to see, and challenges you want to help solve!  Enjoy this fun way to dream about what an interesting life you can chose to have post-high school.  
      • Build a Career Dream Board and Connect with your Pamplin School of Business Community:  The journey from dream board to impactful career is like an Olympic event.  It requires dedication, planning, exploration, and resilience.  You’ll kickstart a Career Dream Board, combining your Bucket List with the ways you hope to change the world! Share your dreams and ideas with fellow PSOB students to find uncover common goals, spark curiosities, make connections, and jumpstart your school community!
  • School of Education: Welcome to the SOE! Franz 452 (Seigfriend Conference Room).
    • Welcome to the School of Education (SOE)! In your visit to the SOE you will have the opportunity to meet education students to talk about your program; you might visit a local partner school; activities might including sitting in on tutoring sessions led by education students; and, discussing your four-year plan with a faculty mentor and program counselor.

  • School of Nursing and Health Innovation. Shiley Hall 301.
    • The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and the Public Health and Wellness (PHW) degree programs will have provide an hour each during our WAVE information session. Starting with the BSN program, we will provide activities and opportunities for engaging questions about patient care, professionalization in healthcare, and the various opportunities for development, growth, and service in the field of nursing. Next, the PHW program will provide more activities and applications to ensure that Public Health enthusiasts see all of the diverse places where public health is applied and where it is growing. This will also be an opportunity to explore PHW as a minor.

  • Shiley School of Engineering: Engineering All Over UP. Shiley Hall 123.
    • Learn all about the School of Engineering and what you need to know about math placements and scheduling basics. This will be followed by a scavenger hunt style event where teams of students will search for engineering related items and spaces all over campus. Finally, you'll get some guidance on how to be successful in your first year regarding: time management, organization, study support, math placement, and communication avenues.
