Checklist and Timeline

Admitted Students

There is a lot to do before Orientation! Follow the checklist below to make sure you are on top of it all. Secure your spot with your enrollment confirmation deposit (nonrefundable). The submission and postmark deadline for fall entry first-year student deposits is June 1. The submission and postmark deadline for fall entry transfer student deposits is prior to course registration.

Next Steps for all Confirmed Students

  • Set up your PilotsUP email account (instructions sent to your personal email address within 48 hours of confirming enrollment)
  • Complete the New Student Registration and Advising Survey (you will receive a link in your up.edu email). Available in spring for fall entry students.

Send Official Documents to Admissions

  • Request your official final high school and/or college transcript(s) be sent to admission_documents@up.edu by July 1.
  • Request that UP receives your test scores by July 1 (unless you receive new scores after this date, then have them sent as soon as they are available) to evaluate your fall registration for higher placement. 
    • AP scores of 4 & 5 may be eligible for college credit.
    • IB higher level (HL) scores of 5, 6, 7 may be eligible for college credit.

  • Apply for Housing

    Complete the Housing Application (available starting December 1; preferred deadline June 10. Confirm enrollment first and set up you PilotsUP email account).

  • Language Placement

    Due June 10. Contact your UP school in early May if you are interested in taking language courses in French or Spanish. As there is no placement exam for German, email Dr. Alexandra Stewart for help with placement in the right class at stewarta@up.edu. College of Arts & Sciences B.A. degree programs require intermediate-level mastery of a second language.

  • Math Placement

    Available March 15; due June 10. All students interested in or required to take MTH 201 (Calculus 1) are required to take the math placement test as part of the math placement process regardless of AP or IB credit for calculus. If you are in a major requiring calculus (chemistry, computer science, engineering, environmental science, math, or physics), instructions will be emailed to you, and the test will be accessible online on Moodle. If you are not in a major requiring calculus, but need to take Math 201, please email mathplacement@up.edu.

  • Accommodations

    Students with disabilities should begin the accommodation request process by scheduling an appointment with AES once they have confirmed enrollment at UP. Please visit the AES webpage at up.edu/aes for detailed information about requesting accommodations and required documentation. Requests for housing accommodations are due June 10.   • Health Insurance Waiver

    Available mid-July; due September 1. If you have comparable existing health insurance, you may complete a waiver so you will not be billed for University group insurance. Your insurance will be audited to verify it meets the University definition of comparable coverage offering both emergency and non-emergency care in the Portland area. Plans not providing coverage in the Portland area will not be accepted.

  • Set up Direct Deposit

    To receive student account refunds, paychecks, volunteer stipends, and miscellaneous
    reimbursements, set up direct deposit.

    Authorize a parent or other individual to view portions of your UP Self-Serve information.
