The Career Education Center recognizes 10 career readiness competencies. These are the competencies employers and graduate schools look for in college students and recent graduates regardless of profession or industry. You demonstrate your career readiness through a variety of experiences as a student at the University of Portland.
RATE is a tool to help you make connections between the career readiness competencies you are developing and using as a student and your future goals. RATE stands for reflect, articulate, translate, and evaluate. You will be guided through a four-step process to help you reflect on your experience at UP, articulate how your experience is helping you develop your career readiness competencies, translate your experience to support your future goals, and evaluate your level of readiness in these competencies.
