Sr. Alberta Dieker, O.S.B., recipient of the University’s highest honor, the Christus Magister Medal, has devoted her life to faith, scholarship, and service. After professing vows as a Benedictine sister and earning a doctorate from University of Oregon, she taught at elementary schools and then at universities, including Eastern Oregon. She is the author of A Tree Rooted in Faith: A History of Queen of Angels Monastery (2007) and has held numerous positions, including president of Mount Angel College, as well as president and founding member of the Oregon Catholic Historical Society. She received the Bishop Francis Leipzig Award for contributing to the study of Catholic history in the Pacific Northwest, and the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Award from Pope Benedict XVI in recognition of her contributions to the Archdiocese of Portland.
