Footnotes

After any information which you are required to cite, insert footnotes using your word processing options. The numbers for the footnotes always appear after the punctuation mark (except dashes). When possible, insert them after a complete sentence. Footnotes must be ordered sequentially.

Unlike MLA, which provides full bibliographic information at the end of the paper, your bibliographic information should be written in the footnote; typically, bibliographies are only included to indicate additional sources.

For the first mention of an author's work, provide the full bibliographic information. However, after the second mention of an author's work, shorten your information to the author's name and a page reference. If you are citing more than one work by the same author, also include a shortened version of the title.
