Shiley School of Engineering students awarded local scholarships

Antonia Molina and Jacob Whitfield with Diane Grant DanielsSenior civil engineering majors Antonia Molina and Jacob Whitfield each received a 2016 Douglas P. Daniels/Coral Sales Company Scholarship. Diane Grant Daniels, CEO of Coral Sales and University of Portland alumna, awarded the Shiley School of Engineering students their scholarships on Oct. 28.

Molina, a Portland native, will be working with Skanska this year while Whitfield, from Salem, is interested in transportation issues according to their advisor Mojtaba Takallou.

The Douglas P. Daniels/Coral Sales Company Scholarship fund was established in 1987 to help support transportation engineering students at universities in the Pacific Northwest. For almost three decades, Coral Sales has awarded almost 700 scholarships to civil engineering and construction engineering students at 16 colleges throughout the company’s northwest sales territory.

Headquartered in Portland, Coral Sales specializes in supplying high-quality safety and maintenance products to the transportation industry in the Pacific Northwest.
