Artificial Intelligence and Catholic Higher Education: UP to Host National Conference on Mission-Based Teaching in the Age of AI

In a continuing effort to provide forward-looking instruction and career readiness opportunities for students, University of Portland will host a national conference on artificial intelligence for Catholic higher education institutions October 18-20, 2024 on the UP campus.

The University of Portland has officially opened the new Dundon-Berchtold Hall, its latest example of instructional and scholarly investment. The building is the culmination of a multi-year philanthropic commitment by Amy Dundon-Berchtold, a member of the UP Board of Regents, and her husband Jim Berchtold, UP Class of 1963.

Last week members of the UP community gathered together to sign and bless a beam that will be part of the new Dundon-Berchtold Hall, currently under construction in the heart of the University's campus.

On September 21, 2017, a groundbreaking ceremony was held on the site of the new academic building, Dundon-Berchtold Hall. The hall is scheduled for completion in January 2019.

The University of Portland has been selected to host the 2018 Opus Prize, a $1 million annual award which recognizes individuals or organizations who address critical social issues within their communities.

At the University of Portland’s annual State of UP luncheon today, University president Rev. Mark L. Poorman C.S.C. unveiled the plans for Dundon-Berchtold Hall, a new academic center with over 63,000 sq. ft. of classrooms, offices, auditorium, career center, and the Dundon-Berchtold Institute.
