Civil engineering graduate Reyn Stisher ’17 is the Shiley School of Engineering’s 2017 Dean’s Award recipient.

“I am humbled and grateful to have received the Shiley Dean’s Award,” Stisher, a native of Wailuku, Hawaii, said. “The sense of community at UP and in the Shiley School of Engineering I have felt these past four years has been wonderful.”

One of Stisher’s favorite memories at UP includes his work on a senior capstone project with TriMet. Stisher and his fellow students attempted to recommend a viable transit alternative to the Steel Bridge.

“The project is in the early stages of development and will most likely be one of the larger projects in Portland if it’s completed,” Stisher said. “The fact that our team had the opportunity to be a part of such a big project is something that I will always remember.”

Stisher is excited to begin work as a project engineer for general contractor firm Goodfellow Brothers in Maui.

“The demanding course work and the number of projects I have completed in four years have helped me develop the necessary skills that are vital for work in the field,” Stisher said. “The vast number of engineering professionals in the Portland area allowed for great networking opportunities and guest speakers on campus.”
