University of Portland presents “Hailing Cesar” film and discussion with director Eduardo Chávez, October 10

The University of Portland will play a screening of the film “Hailing Cesar,” in the Brian J. Doyle Auditorium on Thursday, October 10 at 5 p.m. Eduardo Chávez, director, writer, and producer of this film, will be in attendance to have a live discussion. This event is free and open to the public, and light concessions will be provided.

This film follows Eduardo Chávez, grandson of legendary activist Cesar Chávez, as he embarks on a journey to get in touch with his heritage and his grandfather’s legacy. This film addresses Chávez’s fight towards equality and the conditions that farm-workers face.

Eduardo Chávez attended Loyola Marymount University and is currently an actor in LA. He focuses and advocates for accurate Latino representation in the media. He also co-founded the Latindia Studios.
