We made it to Spring Semester. Both in-person and virtual classes and tons of student activities are underway, and several Pilot athletics teams are back in season. If you’re looking to support our amazing student athletes and teams, Karina Handeland, senior associate athletic director has got you covered.

“The best way to tune is to go to PortlandPilots.com,” says Handeland. There are often schedule changes due to COVID-19, but nearly everything is streamed, and the website provides the most recent times and best way to watch. Handeland encourages patience along with school spirit, as ensuring the health and safety of our athletes is most important.

“The fact that we’re playing right now is the most exciting thing,” says Handeland. “Having the opportunity for students to get on the court or field, being able to play and stay safe is amazing.” All sports are in season right now, including soccer, cross country, volleyball, tennis, basketball, and baseball.

Handeland also encourages the UP community to follow UP athletics on Facebook, and especially Twitter and Instagram, for updates and live posts during games. Student athletes or staff are always posting, so social media is another way to stay informed, support, and find creative ways to engage. “Wear your purple,” says Handeland, “and if you’re watching, tag our social media so we can see you!”

Although there are no in-person spectators this year, there are still plenty of ways to watch games and support our teams and athletes. “We miss our fans!” says Handeland. “We can’t wait to see you back in person. Go Pilots!”
