Joane Moceri, PhD, RN, Dean of UP's School of Nursing and Health Innovations, has been appointed to the Administrative Requirements for Clinical Training Advisory Committee (ARCTAC) by the Oregon Health Authority. The committee will review and modernize rules related to compliance for all clinical training programs in Oregon.

The ARCTAC committee will have a critical role in determining vaccine requirements, infection control requirements and many other rules that affect students as they go to clinical sites. The ARCTAC will also review the OHA statute to support the educational needs associated with clinical training for future providers in an evolving health care landscape.

"It's an honor to be selected to serve on this OHA advisory committee,” Moceri said. “It’s a very engaged group who will be reviewing and updating the rules pertaining to health professions students in practice sites. We’ll be looking at rules about immunizations, criminal background checks and drug testing.

“These rules also help ensure the safety of the public who encounter students in practice sites. We have a lot to do in a short time," Moceri added.

Marc Overbeck, representative for OHA's Health Policy and Analytics division, noted the importance of the work being done by the committee, stating: "Oregon’s health care workforce is at a critical point," and the assistance of Moceri and fellow committee members, "...will help us modernize our training requirements and help advance our goals of a workforce that is diverse, robust and well."

Moceri will serve on the committee for a term of one-to-two years.
