University of Portland President Robert D. Kelly, PhD has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU), effective immediately.
The ACCU named Dr. Kelly as one of five member presidents to serve a first team on the Board through 2028. They are:
The 20-member Board of Directors guides the work of the ACCU in serving its member institutions, particularly in responding to emerging member needs and promoting the good work being done at Catholic colleges and universities.
“I am honored to join the ACCU Board of Directors and thrilled that UP will be represented at the highest levels of Catholic higher education,” said President Kelly. “I have spent nearly my entire life in Catholic education and have seen, first-hand, its tremendous impact on students, communities, and the world. I look forward to collaborating with my fellow Board members as we advance the excellent work of the ACCU and position Catholic higher ed for even greater success.”
At its 2025 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, the ACCU Board of Directors appointed H. James Williams, president of Mount St. Joseph University, to serve as Chair of the Board through February 2026.
