Faith, formation, service, and leadership are key tenets of University of Portland's mission. There are many opportunities at UP to explore the ways faith, service and leadership intersect with your life's calling and future aspirations.
Through retreats, faith sharing communities, and weekly Masses in the Chapel and residence halls, Campus Ministry helps students of all religious traditions explore and deepen their faith by building community through prayer and worship.
The Moreau Center for Service and Justice offers a variety of opportunities to help students get involved in local, national, and international service. In the days leading up to Orientation, the Service Plunge immerses first-year students in a two-day project. There are more "plunges" during fall, spring, and summer breaks. Closer to home, the Moreau Center can help you connect with an agency whose mission and outreach resonates with you.
Living on campus and actively participating in residence hall activities is a great way to get involved. There are many leadership positions available in the halls including Hall Council, faith and formation ambassadors, intercultural coordinators, residential computing consultants, service and justice coordinators, and sustainability coordinators.
All full-time undergraduate students are members of the Associated Students of the University of Portland (ASUP), and there are 17 senators and six executive board members who represent the interests of the student body. The weekly meetings are a public forum, and all members of the University are invited to attend.
