Call for Programs

The 2022 ASACCU Conference will be an opportunity for us to gather to heal, renew, and reinvent ourselves as a community of professionals dedicated to the education and success of our students.

In June, we look forward to gathering in Portland and returning to an in-person conference for the first time in two years. As we convene, we will commit to taking an opportunity to pause in solidarity to grieve all that we have lost and then, with hope, to imagine what is possible and what can be.

As Student Affairs professionals at Catholic institutions, we attend to the overall formation of our students. The 2022 ASACCU Conference seeks proposals focusing on one of these core content areas:

1. Student well-being and developing a healing and restorative community:

“We shall always place education side by side with instruction; the mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart. While we prepare useful citizens for society, we shall likewise do our utmost to prepare citizens for heaven.” — Bl. Basil Moreau C.S.C., Circular Letter 36

Some questions to consider as you develop your proposal for this content area:

  1. How can we help students to discover what well-being means to them?
  2. How are we best responding to trauma suffered in our communities?
  3. How can we consider, explore, and develop our model of care in Catholic Higher Education?

2. Justice, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Moving from listening and dialogue to action:

“Zeal us the great desire to make God known, loved, and served, and thus to bring knowledge of salvation to others. Activity flows from this virtue.” —Bl. Basil Moreau C.S.C., Christian Education

Some questions to consider as you develop your proposal for this content area:

  1. How does our Catholic identity and the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching inform our daily work? What does that look like in practice?
  2. How does our work on student formation connect directly with the broader goals of promoting healthy civil discourse and civic engagement?
  3. How do we best empower student voice and student activism?

3. The changing role of student affairs on Catholic colleges and universities:

“With eyes of faith consider the greatness of your mission and the wonderful amount of good which you can accomplish.” —Bl. Basil Moreau C.S.C., Christian Education

Some questions to consider as you develop your proposal for this content area:

  1. How do we work to build staffing structures that best serve our student populations?
  2. How do we continue to adapt to the needs of our students?
  3. How do we communicate the distinctive ways we are serving students?

Sessions will be 60-75 minutes in length.

Please include the following information with your proposal:

  • Name, Title, Institution, Contact information for each presenter
