Photography and Video

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and we have thousands of pictures available to help you tell your story.

Stock Photography

  • NextX is our new web-based digital asset management (DAM) system filled with recent photos. It's easily searchable and approved by marketing for use on your web pages, in e-blasts, and print publications. (See the NetX Help Sheets for help getting started.)

Event Photography

  • Our on-staff photographer/videographer is reserved for key University-wide events and shoots that are for publications created by marketing and communications. If your photography needs meet these guidelines, please contact Dhara Brown, brownd@up.edu or 503.943.7202, to schedule a shoot. Indicate the day/time of your shoot and hours required. Two-weeks notice is preferable for events.
  • We have a number of wonderfully talented freelance photographers who can help cover your event. Contact Dhara Brownbrownd@up.edu or 503.943.7202, for more information.
  • Want to photograph the event yourself? We have an easy-to-use digital camera available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The Digital Lab in Shiley Marcos Center for Design and Innovation
also offers 24-hour loan periods for a variety of still and video cameras.

Video

  • Our on-staff photographer/videographer is reserved for videos that serve key events and key audiences with priority given to projects that support student recruitment and fundraising efforts.

Due to limited staff and time constraints we are unable to support every video request that we receive.

  • If your project has an academic focus or is course-based, contact the student-staffed On the Bluff Studios, a project of Academic Technology Services, for assistance.
  • For do-it-yourself help, visit the Digital Lab, which offers courses in iMovie, Adobe's Creative Suite, and more.

Commercial Photography or Video

If you are interested in using the University of Portland campus for a commercial film or photo shoot, please contact University Events at 503.943.7523 or at events@up.edu.
