Websites
The University's main website, up.edu, is a collaborative effort between the Offices of Marketing Communications and Web Services as well as the 100+ superusers on campus who maintain their department websites.
Marketing's Role
- Oversees content and design for entire site.
- Manages architecture/navigation of the main site and assists superusers with department site architecture.
- Assists with copy as needed including writing for search engine optimization (SEO).
- Provides or assists with photos/icons/imagery.
- Creates website templates.
- Periodically reviews department sites to ensure compliance with UP brand guidelines and to address accessibility compliance.
Web Services' Role
- Manages all technical aspects of the site.
- Provides training in up.edu's content management system, Cascade Server.
- Creates communities and provides training in pilots.up.edu (the portal).
- Develops custom apps for special projects on a case-by-case basis.
Superusers' Role
- Create content (written copy, upload photos and video) for department websites.
- Ensure websites are regularly updated and content is factually correct.
Email
Need an email newsletter? Want to share information about your event via email? We can help. The University's enterprise-wide email service provide is Emma (myemma.com). We will work with your department to set up a dedicated account for your department and provide you with UP-branded templates for newsletters, eblasts, and event announcements. We provide copy services on a limited basis.
Marketing's Role
- Creates department and user accounts
- Designs templates and disseminates them for use in accounts
- Assists with copy on a limited basis; reviews communication as requested.
- Maintains University-wide email calendar to manage flow of information to our constituencies.
Users' Role
- Independently creates copy for email communication.
- Uses branded templates for messaging.
- Coordinates send dates with marketing to help manage the flow of information to constituencies.
