Family Saturdays

Children of students, faculty, and staff who are 5-17 years old are allowed to use the gymnasium area of the Beauchamp Recreation Center most Saturdays during the academic year. This opportunity for families to spend recreation time together with their children is available to those with membership to the Beauchamp Recreation & Wellness Center. To facilitate a safe environment for users of the facility, including children, please see the policies for the program below.

• Dates for Fall 2016 will be announced in August.
• Age range for children is 5-17 years. Children must be old enough to respond to directions from parents and others.
• Access is free for children of students, faculty and staff with current gym membership. Current UP ID is required.
• Fee for a guest of the family is $8 with a limit of 2 guests.
• Access is to the gymnasium and restrooms only.
• Gym users including children must be in athletic court shoes and clothing.
• Children must be supervised at all times by the sponsoring student, faculty or staff member.
• Children must be actively participating, ie., not sitting or lying on the floor or bleachers while others play.
• Parents are expected to monitor the behavior of their children. Children must play nicely. Those who exhibit unacceptable behavior will be asked to leave with their parent and will lose the privilege of attending Family Saturdays. This includes destructive, aggressive, bullying, etc., behaviors.
• Age exception- It is acceptable during family hours for parents with children aged 0-1 yrs who are walking on the track to have their child with them in a stroller or body sling, etc. The young children may not be in the gymnasium area or anywhere else in the facility with the exception of the restroom.
• Basketballs and volleyballs are available from the check-out desk. Rec Services staff may also make other items available on certain days such as pickleball and badminton. Personal toys and equipment are not allowed.
