Provost's Initiative

In spring of 2015, the Provost’s Initiative for Undergraduate Research was inaugurated.  Faculty members from across the University collaborated with undergraduates on a research project that extended throughout the semester.  The Provost’s Office is committed to increasing opportunities for experiential student learning, and this initiative represents a key element in achieving that goal.

The application for Spring 2025 Provost's Initiative is CLOSED.

Why collaborate with students?

More than anything, their energy and excitement in the research is often the highlight of my day/week.  They are able to look at the problem with a fresh set of eyes, and they often ask questions I have not yet considered.  They also bring a level of creativity that is absolutely necessary in mathematical research.
