Interested in exploring engineering before college? The University of Portland’s Pre-College Engineering course gives high school students hands-on experience in a real university setting. This summer program is designed for aspiring engineers who want to dive into mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering through interactive projects, creative problem-solving, and teamwork. It’s the perfect introduction to engineering college majors and career pathways.
Students will be introduced to the design thinking process and explore key concepts in math, physics, and technology through engaging, real-world challenges. From building simple machines to prototyping solutions for sustainability or infrastructure issues, participants will develop critical thinking skills and gain insight into how engineers improve the world around us.
The course is taught by experienced University of Portland engineering faculty who are passionate about mentoring the next generation of innovators.
