Kenna Hall was originally called Holy Cross Hall when it opened in 1959 as a men's dormitory. The building was renamed in 1973 to honor the University's 14th president, Rev. Howard J. Kenna, C.S.C., and it served as a women's hall for a short time in the 1980s and a coed hall in the 1990s and early 2000s before becoming a women's hall again. Today the building features a pottery lab and a renovated basement lounge with ping-pong and pool tables. The hall is home to approximately 200 women in its 103 rooms. The building also houses the University's Air Force ROTC offices.
