Schoenfeldt Hall is named after Rev. Arthur ("Padre") Schoenfeldt, C.S.C., a longtime University priest who passed away in December of 2007. Fields Hall is named after Fred and Suzanne (Sue) Fields. Rev. Schoenfeldt and Mrs. Fields were brother and sister. Although one building, these two residence halls have very unique and distinct identities. Schoenfeldt Hall is designated as male wings and Fields Hall as female wings. The residence halls opened in August 2009 and are the first LEED Gold certified residence halls on campus.
Shared amenities of Schoenfeldt Hall and Fields Hall include one front desk, 24-hour common space lounges, wing-specific study rooms, workout room, kitchenette & dining area, chapel, and outdoor plaza. Student storage and bicycle parking is also available to residents of both halls in shared spaces. Each hall has its own staff, hall council, and weekly Mass. Views from the residence halls include the Willamette River, the St. John's Bridge, and Mount Hood. Outdoors there are sand volleyball and basketball courts for student use.
