This page contains information on the resources and services provided by the Health, Counseling, and Wellness Centers. This page contains a multitude of resources, if you are looking for something specific we recommend utilizing the (Ctrl + F ) function to search for key words if you are looking for specific support.

Health Services:
- What they do:
- The Health Center provides a wide variety of medical care and treatment resources. They are available to full-time and part-time UP Students. They bill your health insurance, however some services are free. For questions on this see the FAQs section, call 503.943.7134, or email them at hcc@up.edu. Some of the services they provide are:
- How to access:
- You can make an appointment over the phone at 503.943.7134 or in person. They are located on the upper level of Orrico Hall.

- During the Fall and Spring semesters, their hours are:
- Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
- Closed for lunch hour daily from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Counseling Center:
- What they do:
- The Counseling Center is the hub for mental health on campus and provides triage, crisis, and therapy appointments, teletherapy options, groups & workshops, online & self-help resources, and outreach. The Counseling team is dedicated to supporting our students’ mental health and academic success while helping them flourish as human beings and empowering them to actively engage in their mental health journey.
- How to access:
- You can make an appointment by calling (503) 943-7134 or by stopping by in person. They are located on the upper level of Orrico Hall.
- Open hours:
- The Counseling Center is open for in-person appointments Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm.
- Teletherapy sessions are available through BetterMynd during the day, at night, and on weekends, so you can get support whenever it's best for you.
Pilot Helpline:
- What they do:
- The Pilot Helpline provides confidential support and guidance to UP students anywhere and anytime. They can provide support for a variety of situations, some examples are:
- To talk about a situation that you don't know how to handle (i.e. What to do if a friend is sending you concerning messages)
- To get confidential support and guidance (i.e., Grief about a recent breakup, death of a family member, or fight with a friend)
- To manage academic stressors
- To access crisis support or intervention (i.e., Sexual assault, thoughts of suicide or self-injury, thoughts of harming others)
- To get temporary support while you wait for your scheduled counseling appointment
- How to access:
- To speak with the Pilot Helpline and get confidential support from anywhere at any time, call the Health & Counseling office at 503.943.7134, and select Option 3 in our voicemail message. If you call during business hours and the front desk answers the phone, kindly inform them that you need to reach the Pilot Helpline. If you are not on campus or in the Portland area, notify your Helpline counselor so they know how to interpret their procedures, such as offering local resources or escalating to in-person intervention.
Care Team:
- What they do:
- The Care Team is a referral service committed to providing individualized support to students who are struggling. When parents, peers, faculty, or staff members are concerned about the physical, emotional, academic, or personal health of a University student, the Care Team Program can assess the situation, offer support, and provide referrals to the breadth of resources on-campus.
- How to Access:
- You can fill out a referral for yourself or someone else on this site.
- Availability:
- Care Team referrals are processed by a team of university staff. This means that referrals can take 1-2 days to receive a response.
- As always, for emergencies, please reach out to emergency resources.
StockUP:
- What they do:
- StockUP is a food pantry aimed at providing support for students struggling with resource insecurity.
- How to access:
- StockUP is managed by the Care Team and is located in the Lower Level of Orrico Hall. To access this resource send an email to careteam@up.edu to schedule an appointment.
- Availability:
- Care Team-related requests are processed by a team of university staff. This means that responses to emails can take 1-2 days to receive a response.
Confidential Advocates for Survivors:
- What they do:
- Confidential Advocates provide a confidential space where you can speak to someone if you, or someone you care about, has experienced interpersonal violence. They have been trained to provide trauma-informed support, and are not required to report to Title IX. They can help with strategizing academic support, safety planning, reporting options, and whatever a survivor needs to be supported.
- Availability:
- Availability is dependent on the schedules of each advocate.
Trainings:
- What they are:
- The Wellness Promotion team provides a variety of trainings to inform students, staff, and faculty on how to support wellness in the UP community and how to intervene in situations that could lead to harm.
- What they offer:
- Green Dot Bystander training: This training is aimed at giving students, staff, and faculty experience in understanding what violence looks like, barriers to intervention, creative strategies catered to individual levels of comfort with intervening, and planning for community building around anti-violence.
- JED Foundation Suicide Prevention training: Available for students, staff, and faculty. This training focuses on building skills relating to intervening in situations where peers are exhibiting concerning behaviors to prevent suicide. It aims to decrease stigma around difficult conversations about mental health.
- Supporting Student Mental Wellness: This training is aimed at faculty and staff who have questions about how to identify a student struggling with their mental health and how to get them access to mental health resources. This training will go through how to check in with students, how to build a culture around mental wellness, and will describe different mental health resources available to UP students.
- Health and Wellness Resources Overview: This training can be given to students, staff, and faculty. It describes all available resources for UP students for health and wellness on campus, how to access them, and provides a space for answering questions relating to resource access.
- Choose Your Own Adventure: Due to the close collaboration between the Student Health Center, the Counseling Center, and the Wellness Promotion team, we can come up with a training or talk based on your individual needs. If you or a group you belong to on campus have a specific wellness interest, reach out with what you are looking for and what your timeline is, and we can work out a training that suits your needs!

- Send an email to wellness@up.edu describing the training you are looking for, whether you are part of a group or are an individual, and you/your group’s general availability.
Wellness Promotion Events:
- What they do:
- The Wellness Promotion team puts on a variety of events to highlight the importance of wellness in the UP Community. Examples of past events include Thrift and Fashion Club Denim Day Bedazzling Collaboration, Healthy Snacks Wellness Wednesday, Affirmation Resumes with the Career Center, and many more!

Wellness Volunteering:
- What they do:
- Wellness Volunteers get vital experience in health promotion and event facilitation/planning. As a Wellness Volunteer, you can help staff events, create promotional materials for wellness, and be involved other tasks you are interested in.
