Engage Service
We invite you to learn more about the Moreau Center for Service & Justice's volunteer offerings. Whether you’re looking for one-time projects or more ongoing commitments, are interested in serving diverse populations, or would like to pursue a service opportunity that gives you the chance to draw on your talents and skills, there’s bound to be a program that fits your interests.
Volunteer with Roosevelt High School SUN
UP volunteers participate in the Roosevelt High School SUN program in St. Johns, primarily offering academic support, mentorship, and enrichment activities for high school students in after school programming. Students also distribute food from their food panty, organize food donations, and volunteer in their clothing closet.
Volunteer with Elementary SUN
Elementary SUN Volunteers build relationships with elementary school students at César Chávez and James John Elementary through playing games, tutoring and doing activities together after school. It is a safe, supportive environment for kids, and they love having UP students come hang out with them! SUN Programs operate Mondays through Thursdays.
Volunteer with L'Arche Portland
L’Arche is a group of “People with and without intellectual disabilities sharing life, creating home, and building meaningful relationships together”. Students who volunteer with L’Arche are able to build these relationships, engage in this welcoming community, and have so much fun! Activities include gardening, chatting, watching movies, coloring etc. Hours are flexible and students can choose to volunteer every week or for occasional events (like the Halloween and Christmas Parties!).
Monthly Volunteer Opportunities
Every month, the Moreau Center provides one-time opportunities for students to serve with various nonprofits in the community. These are wonderful opportunities for students who have a busy schedule or are exploring what type of engagement they'd like to be involved in.
