Roosevelt High School SUN
UP volunteers participate in the Roosevelt High School SUN program in St. Johns, primarily offering academic support, mentorship, and enrichment activities for high school students in after school programming. Students also distribute food from their food panty, organize food donations, and volunteer in their clothing closet.
Tutoring opportunities are Monday-Thursday from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM. Food Pantry distribution takes place every Friday from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. We ask that students commit to volunteering at least once a week (on a consistent day) for a full semester. Volunteers are able to go whatever day/time fits with their schedule and do not have to stay for the entire time slot if they have conflicts (Ex. A student could tutor on Mondays from 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM).
Roosevelt High School is close to UP's campus and volunteers can take the bus or borrow a Moreau Center vehicle for transportation. The Moreau Center can also provide bus passes for students that need them to get to a service site.
